About Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm


The Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, currently in late-stage development, will see up to 72 turbines located 15 km off the Angus Coast and connect to the National Grid at Cockenzie, East Lothian, generating around 1.1 GW of clean electricity.

Our projects are poised to play key role in green economic recovery.

Once complete, it will be one of Scotland’s largest single sources of renewable energy and power up to 1 million homes with clean electricity.


Summary of Assignment:


As an Electrical Engineer in the WTG Package, you will play a critical role in the specification, design, analysis and optimisation of electrical power systems, focusing on the integration and interfacing of the wind turbine generator with the offshore wind farm electrical system. Your deep understanding will enable you to contribute to the safe, efficient development and construction of the offshore wind farm.


Travels required: Mainly WFH with some travels to the Edinburgh office for meetings as and when required (around 3 days a month, normally within the same week and communicated in advanced)
Main office: 40 Princess Street, EH22BY, Edinburgh
Working hours: Flexible times - Monday to Friday - 7.5h a day (normally between 8am and 6pm)


Responsibilities

  • Ensure that safety by design is applied considering the engineering, construction, operational and decommissioning phases; and that health and environmental issues are considered at all stages of the engineering process.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and mitigation strategies to ensure the successful execution of offshore wind project.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, analyse, and optimise electrical systems for offshore wind projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Ensure the Interface / Responsibility matrix is up to date and package is delivering on the plan through regular coordination.
  • Responsible for the technical management of the WTG elements of wind farm overall system design (i.e. studies, protection, SCADA, etc.).
  • Review power system studies, fault analysis, and protection coordination to ensure the reliability and safety of offshore wind electrical systems.
  • Electrical point of contact for detailed interface management between WTG Package and transmission works package, WTG substructure and array cable (marine works) package.
  • Provide technical support during project development, construction, commissioning, and operational phases, addressing any electrical engineering challenges that may arise.
  • Interface with contractors and regulatory bodies to ensure effective communication and project progression.
  • Main point of contact with Senior WTG Engineer for administration of the electrical elements of the WTG contract (i.e. have all technical requirements of the contract been met).
  • Develop project documentation such as the project’s Basis of Design, Scopes of Work for contractors, and Requirement Specifications for packages.
  • Develop engineering documentation such as technical notes, reports, decision logs and change notes.
  • Supervise contractor activities and review contractor deliverables to ensure that design packages stay consistent with the Basis of Design and project requirements. 
  • Develop and respond to comment sheets and technical queries.

Skills:

  • Operation of MS Office systems and other IT based project management software.
  • Good technical, interpersonal, and organisational skills.

Knowledge:

  • Good technical, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in the engineering design process of offshore wind farms.
  • Offshore wind experience.

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified engineer.
